For the second time in the history of the Revolution Series the Manchester Velodrome was sold out on Saturday night for Revolution 19. Nearly 4000 spectators crammed into the Velodrome to watch a superb night of sprint and endurance racing.
Unfortunately Chris Hoy was missing from the starting line up due to illness. Chris pulled out of the Rotterdam six day with a fever earlier in the week and was hoping to recover for Revolution but the doctor advised him it would be too risky to race too soon and make the illness worse.
This didn't reduce the intensity of the sprinting though as Jason Kenny stole the show winning the sprint omnium after opening the evening with a 10.172 200m time trial! Star attraction Theo Bos did get some of the limelight with a superb display of speed and power to win the Keirin.
Kenny ended up winning the sprint omnium and Great Britain beat Holland in the two man Team Sprint.
There was plenty of action in the endurance racing with the 100%me riders continuing to dominate despite the best efforts of Hayles and Newton. Steven Burke took the victory in the Scratch Race with Ben Swift triumphant in the Points. The old guard did take one win though with Newton too strong in the Motor Paced Scratch.
Hayles set the pace in the Scratch Race
There was plenty more action in the women's endurance with Lizzie Armistead showing her skills to win the Devil and Points race. Armistead came third in the Scratch behind winner Jo Rowsell and second placed Rebecca Romero.
Tickets are now on sale for the final Revolution of the season on February 23rd where we hope Chris Hoy will be fully fit and ready to take on Arnaud Tournant and the French Team Sprint.
