ROLLAPALUZA AT REVOLUTION 23
12 January 2009

After their success at Revolution 21  Rollapaluza  were invited back for Revolution 23 courtesy of Condor Cycles.

Before letting the general public loose on their vintage roller racing rig the  Rollapaluza crew hosted a celebrity race . New channel 4 sports program "4sport" filmed  a challenge race bewtween their presenter and Olympic 400m runner Iwan Thomas and ex Wigan player and current Gloucester Rugby League coach Denis Betts over the traditional Rollapaluza distance of 500m.  Denis, who was riding the Italian pursuit later in the evening, couldn't make his huge legs turn fast enough to beat Iwan who won by just over a second in 20.40 enough to give him second place in the Men's Rollapaluza competition behind 14 year old Matt Rotherham.

As Denis and Iwan warmed down the stadium doors were opened and Rollapaluza were inundated once again by over 120 racers, which equated to a near solid five hours of continuous roller-racing action. However over 170 times were set, just as last time this is due mostly to super-keen kids wanting to race up to four times.

Revolution organisers donated some goodies for the Youth racing and the super-fast and deserving winners were:

Boys:
Dylan Kerfoot-Robson  (12) 250m in 12.37 seconds (45.5mph)

Girls:
Emily Barnes (13) 250m in 13.47 seconds (41.8mph)

Full results and photos can be found on the Rollapaluza site here: http://www.rollapaluza.com/?p=201

Rollapaluza will be returning for Revolution 24 once again thanks to Condor Cycles.
