RACE FORMAT CHANGES
Published 11/09/11
There will be a few changes to the race format for the upcoming Revolution season. The team competition will still form the core of the race programme but these teams will only be made up of endurance riders.
The sprint racing will sit outside the Championship and, in a return to the original racing style of Revolution, will be designed to feature head to heads and national team clashes (GB v France and GB v Germany etc...)
“The team format has been developing over the last couple of seasons but it has been a challenge to include the sprinters across the eight teams” commented promoter James Pope. “By making the Championship endurance focussed the teams and the racing will be more authentic and it will be easier to integrate more pro teams like Team Sky.”
“The audience like seeing the British sprint stars taking on the French and Germans so we wanted to bring this back to the Revolution racing.”
These changes will give Revolution spectators even more action than ever before - the Championship will sit alongside the DHL Future Stars competition with world class nations sprinting making up a packed evening of racing and entertainment.
